MK Bio's history dates to 1991, when Dr. Robert Chang established Applied Biotech, Inc. (ABI), in San Diego, CA. ABI soon became well-known for manufacturing high quality rapid tests for pregnancy, drugs of abuse, infectious diseases and tumor markers. In 1992, Dr. Chang established Meikang in China as a fully owned subsidiary of ABI.

In 1998, when ABI was sold to Apogent Technologies, Meikang became a fully independent entity, after which Meikang established itself as a prominent rapid test manufacturer in its own right.

In 2003, Meikang reached an agreement with Dima Diagnostika in Göttingen, Germany to be their exclusive world wide marketing partner.

In 2008, Meikang moved into a new 100,000 square feet facility in Pudong, Shanghai. Concurrently, European and US branches were founded at Göttingen, Germany and San Diego, CA. These three branches are positioned under a holding company, MK Bio Holding A.G. in Zurich, Switzerland.

The five key groups in our rapid test product line are Fertility, Infectious Disease, Drugs of Abuse, Tumor Markers and Cardiac Markers. These groups include over 100 products used in hospital clinical centers, blood centers, and diseases control centers around the world.

MK Bio also has a strong design team responsible for the development of molding, packaging and advertisement materials, allowing our products to be customized to meet our customers' unique needs.

MK Bio has been recognized as a "National Excellent Foreign Investment" and a "Shanghai New High Technology Company,"was awarded GMP certification from the Chinese government (SFDA), and has been ISO9001:2000 and ISO13485:2003 certified by the International Organization for Standardization.
